The PG department of Chemistry, NSS College Changanachery, organised a UGC National Seminar on "Uptrends in Chemical Sciences and Technology" on 15th and 16th March 2011 in collaboration with IUIC. Dr. B. Venkitaraman, Associate Director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic research inaugurated the academic function. Prof. R. Prasannakumar (Secretary, NSS College's Central Committee) presided over the meeting. Prinicipal Dr. M.P. Rajan delivered introductory remarks. Dr. K.V. Narayanakurup (Member, Syndicate, M.G. University), Prof. S. Chandrasekharan Nair (Former Head, Chemistry), Dr. G. Pramod (Convenor), Prof. Raji N. Ramachandran (General Convener & HOD) addressed the gathering. Dr. Prakash kumar (Joint Director, IUIC) released the proceedings of the Seminar. Theme papers in various Technical Sessions, were presented by eminent academicians like Santhiswaroop Bhatnagar awardees, Dr. T. Pradeep [Professor, Iit. c], Prof. A. Ajayaghosh (CSIR- O Scientist & Dean, Academy of Scientific And Innovative Research, Niist, Trivandrum) Prof. Santhanu Bhattacharya (IISc, Bangalore), Prof. A.K. Mishra, (IIT Chennai) & Dr. Y.S. Mayya (BARC, Mumbai). 25 research papers were presented by the researchers. A total of 150 delegates attended the seminar. Best oral and poster presentations were awarded cash prizes in the valedictory function by the chief guest Dr. Y.S. Mayya, outstanding scientist from BARC and Dr. K. Thulaseedharan Nair, Controller of Administration, KSCSTE, TVM, delivered the Keynote Address and distributed the certificates.
