A three-day National workshop on Frontiers of Spectroscopy and Microscopy was organized by IUIC on 10-12 September 2012. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Rajan Gurukkal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, M.G University, on 10 September 2012 at School of Chemical Science auditorium.

George Thomas (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research), Dr. Abhijit Saha (UGC-DAE CSR, Kolkata Centre), Dr. V. M. Jali (Gulbarga University), Dr. Arun K. Attri (JNU, New Delhi), Dr. R. V. Omkumar (RGCB), Prof. P. M. G. Nambissan (Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics), Dr. Prabhakar, S (IICT), Dr. P.S.R. Krishna (BARC), Dr. M. Vairamani (SRM University), Dr. Zainul Abid C K V (Agilent Technologies India Pvt. Ltd.) and Dr. V Ganesan (UGC- DAE Consortium for Scientific Research). The workshop was sponsored by DST, New Delhi. Topics on fundamentals and recent developments in the field of NMR and Mass spectroscopy, Positron annihilation techniques, molecular biology and atomic force microscopy were discussed. About 220 delegates participated in the programme, which included the students, research scholars, scientists and teachers from the neighbouring institutions/colleges and out of state.
